QuickBooks cleanup and catch-up bookkeeping for contractors.
Behind on the books. Tax deadline coming. Bank feed with 900 uncategorized transactions. Opening balance equity that nobody can explain. We rebuild the file from the statements, fix the chart of accounts, and hand your CPA something they can file from.
Signs your books need a rebuild
Negative cash or negative AR
A bank account showing below zero in QuickBooks when it is not. Customers showing credit balances they never had.
Opening Balance Equity with a balance
That account should be zero. If it is not, something got dumped there and never cleaned up.
Uncategorized income or expense
Anything sitting in "Uncategorized" is a number your CPA has to guess at.
Duplicate vendors and accounts
Three versions of the same supplier. Two "Materials" accounts. Reports that do not add up.
Loans that never got recorded
Truck payments going to "Auto expense" with no loan on the balance sheet.
Your CPA asks the same questions every year
If tax prep takes weeks of back and forth, the books are the problem.
How a cleanup works
- Look at the file. Read-only access. We count months behind and transactions, and check what statements are missing.
- Flat quote. Line-item priced. Rebuild capped at a transaction count, with a per-transaction rate past it. Half to start, half on delivery.
- Rebuild. Feeds coded, accounts reconciled, chart fixed, balances tied to the last return.
- Handoff. You and your CPA get the clean file and a summary of what changed. Monthly service if you want it.
Common questions
How far behind can I be?
Any amount. We have rebuilt files that had not been touched in over a year. It takes longer, but the process is the same.
How much does a cleanup cost?
Flat price quoted from your file after a short look. Most cleanups for companies in our range run $2,500 to $6,000 depending on months behind and transaction count. Half to start, half on delivery.
How long does it take?
Two to four weeks for most files. Longer if bank statements are missing or accounts were never connected.
What do I need to give you?
Read-only QuickBooks access, bank and credit card statements for the period, loan statements, and your last filed tax return so we can match the opening balances.
Will my CPA be able to use it?
Yes. That is the goal. Every account reconciled, balance sheet tied to statements, and a clean trial balance your CPA can file from.
What happens after?
Most clients move to monthly bookkeeping so it never gets behind again. You do not have to.
